Copyright
Copyright laws are laws that require us to respect all of the things made by creative people. Copyright laws are different from country to country (Canada and the US currently have very different copyright laws for example) but they all share the same purpose: to protect people who write novels and music, paint, perform, sculpt and a thousand other things.
On this page you will find a comic book called Comic – Copyright on what copyright is, and another booklet called Learn from the Past – Create from the Future which is general copyright information from the World Intellectual Property Organization that you need to read.
While you are reading this, look for information on “fair use.” What can you legally use? What can you not legally use? What happens to creators when copyright laws are not followed?
Here is a link to Creative Commons. This is a form of copyright that allows people to share their works with others after they have been made. Many things are covered under Creative Commons now. How is this different from traditional copyright?
